I had the chance to pick up a couple of Lego games last week, specifically Legends of Chima and Hero Factory Brain Attack. Hero Factory Brain Attack was an disappointment in my opinion and I think we all know why. Hero Factory Brain Attack is more like an action game with not-so-good controls while Legends of Chima: Speedorz is a racer game. If you’ve seen the amount of LEGO games released from January 1st 2013 to now (January 7th 2013) you’ll notice that there’s about over 4 different titles. While Legends of Chima is far from having good controls, its graphics are well up there with top of the line games.
Unlike Brain Attack, Speedorz is fully played in 3D and you must give the developers thumbs for the effort. It’s FREE after all. At this current update, it’s completely free – and we mean it. There is no in-app purchases and every single coin is earned from playing the game. There are a dozen racer vehicles to pick from so there’s definitely some selection in the game and you can even customize your Lego character.
I found the biggest thing that holds Legends of Chima: Speedorz down is the controls. While I’m not fond of motion sensor tilts on a heavy iPad device, its still better than left and right arrows. You control your racer experience with two left and right arrows and in this racer, that’s quite the problem. The races are extremely fast and by the time you press left or right you’ll find yourself hitting the “walls” or other objects that you don’t want. I still love Lego though but hopefully they can start pulling some really good Lego games into the mobile market. What do you think?
